Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It contains 118 small islands which are separated by canals and connected by 400 bridges. Fascinating fact is that the Venice is the same as it was six hundred years ago, practically untouched since then.
Here we are presenting you 3 destinations among many more you can visit in Venice:
St. Mark's Basilica & Campanile
The most famous of the Venice churches is the Saint Mark's Basilica cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese. It is located at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco, near Doge's Palace. Originally it was the chapel of the Doge, and has been the city's cathedral only since 1807, when it became the seat of the Patriarch of Venice. For its opulent design, gold ground mosaics, and its status as a symbol of Venetian wealth and power, from the 11th century on the building has been known by the nickname Chiesa d'Oro (Church of gold).
Grand Canal
Venice's main artery and primary boulevard Grand Canal, a two-mile ribbon of water with hundreds of ferries, gondolas, garbage scows, traghetti, speedboats, and small commercial craft daily. To take a tour, you don't have to book an expensive gondola ride to do it. Just sit back and take an excursion in observation from Piazza San Marco to the Ferrovia Santa Lucia (the train station)—or vice-versa. It forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city. Public transport is provided by water buses and private water taxis. As well, many tourists explore the canal by gondola.
Rialto Bridge
Rialto Bridge, Italian Ponte di Rialto, stone-arch bridge crossing over the narrowest point of the Grand Canal in the heart of Venice. Rialto Bridge is
the oldest bridge across the canal from 16th century and is renowned as an architectural
and engineering achievement of the Renaissance.
Among mentioned there are a lot more places to visit like: Gallerie dell'Accademia, Pallazo Ducale, Scuola Grande di San Rocco, I Frari, Riviera and many more... You can see some of them in this video:
