Great Pyramid of Giza (Pyramid of Cheops)
The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Cheops or the Pyramid of Khufu) is the largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex and the oldest. It is also the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, only one to remain largely intact. Pyramid was built as a tomb over a 10 to 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC. The Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world with initially at 146.5 meters (481 feet) for more than 3,800 years. Originally, the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface, what is seen today is the underlying core structure.
Great Sphinx of Giza
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a limestone statue of a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafre.
The original shape of the Sphinx cut from the bedrock, has been restored with layers of blocks. It is 73 meters (240 ft) long from paw to tail, 19 meters (62 ft) wide at its rear haunches and 20.21 m (66.31 ft) high from the base to the top of the head. It is believed that it has been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafre (2558–2532 BC). Sphinx is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt.
